Creating the Perfect Hampton-Style Kitchen

One of the most popular trends in homes these days is the Hampton-style kitchen. This unique style originated from an area called the Hamptons on Long Island in the famous city of New York. This style is characterised by its unique, elegant style that seems both refined and luxurious whilst at the same time being relaxed and casual. More and more people are using this style in various parts of their homes, including their living room, bedrooms and kitchens. Hampton-style kitchens, in particular, are one of the most sought-after kitchen designs.

Here are the most prominent features of a Hampton-style kitchen.

White features- Perhaps the reason why Hampton-style kitchens exude elegance is that they are completely white (except for any door handles/knobs). White colour has a reflective quality, brightening up the room. White is a colour that never goes out of style, and its use in Hampton-style kitchens makes them more appealing.

Shaker-style cabinets- This is another classic feature of Hampton-style kitchens. In this unique style of cabinetry, kitchen cabinets are made with a frame around the panel, creating solid lines and detailing which gives the whole kitchen a refined look.

Contrasting door handles- The handles on cabinets are made in a contrasting black or dark brown colour; this makes them stand out against the cabinet. Some kitchens may use silver handles instead of a darker colour for a more traditional look.

Matte black tapware- This is another key feature that works with the contrasting cabinets to create the classic Hampton-style kitchen.

Dark-coloured floorboards- Dark wooden floorboards create a striking contrast against the other white elements of the kitchen. These dark floor boards are also important as they help to create balance against the white benchtops and cabinets. Balance is necessary to make features work together, and if the floor was white, then the kitchen elements would not stand out.

Bright lighting- As mentioned, the white colour has a reflective quality, and this means that light can bounce off the surfaces to really brighten up the room. This is why it is important to have light streaming in from all directions and bright lighting installed to illuminate the kitchen at night.

These features are important when designing a Hampton-style kitchen. Taking the time and effort to create such a kitchen pays off as this style doesn't seem to get old.
