4 Reasons to Think About Adding Booth Seating to Your Kitchen

If you're about to redesign your kitchen, you probably have plenty on your mind, but you should really stop to think about adding booth seating. Booths offer a table, a few chairs, and bench style seating along two or three sides with a wall or work surface forming the back. They're becoming increasingly common in kitchens, and here are just four reasons why.

1. Eliminates Dead Space

The best thing about putting booth seating into your kitchen is getting the most out of your available space. Normal dining tables need to be placed quite far from the wall to ensure chairs can be pulled back – with a booth, the seats are fitted into the wall, so they make full use of available space. Better yet, they're great at fitting into corners and around other areas that often end up becoming little more than dead space. If you have a particularly small kitchen with limited storage space, you can even have drawers or cabinets placed under the bench seats.

2. Works in Multiple Areas

You'll most commonly see booths fitted into corners, but that's far from your only option. While booths do work there, you can also fit them into the nook of an L-shaped kitchen island, along the long end of a peninsula, or along the back of a large workspace. This is actually a nice idea if your kitchen is on the larger rather than the smaller side since a booth can form a nice focal point at the centre of the room.

3. Accommodates a Crowd

One issue with dining tables is that the number of people they can take is set in stone; if you only have four chairs, you can only seat four people. Booths are different. Because they provide a large stretch of bench space which has no gaps, you can squeeze in plenty of people. When you have a bunch of friends over or host a family gathering, you won't have to worry too much about running out of space.

4. Adds a Cool Design Touch

Finally, keep in mind that kitchen booths are a nice way to make your kitchen's design stand out. They're still relatively unique, and you can use them to further your chosen style. Whether you want something super modern with lots of vibrant colours and exposed metal or something rustic with reclaimed timber and leather, you'll find an option to fit.
